Badge from POW camp in England

Whilst finding numerous buttons, dogtags and other German items, I came across this badge in the form of a laurel wreath surrounding an urn. It's 5.5cm x 3.8cm and appears to have had some kind of fixing clip in the reverse at some point. I've never seen this badge (if that's what it is) before. Does anyone have any ideas? Ref Badge from PW Camp England

As Andy has said this item was found on the site of a PW camp in Devon, UK. I'm posting the photos on his behalf;

The item measures 5.5cm x 3.8cm. The rear of the item appears to have a screw fitting that may have attached to a mounting plate of some sort.

My own opinion is that this looks more like a furniture fitting than a military/civil decoration. What do others think?

Another reason to doubt that this is actually a badge to be worn is that apart from the "screwback" type fitting on the rear there is no other method of keeping the badge upright once fitted. Although an interesting item it looks less like a badge the more I think about it.

Hi, don't know the exact words in english but to me it looks like something that has been on an antique piece of furniture to make it look nice.

I think it would be called an escutcheon, although these usually refer to an heraldic device fitted to a piece of furniture it can also be defined as being a protective/decorative fitting - of which I'm now 99% sure this is.
