    Mk3 iab

    Hi guys,

Stumbled up this very rare type of IAB, MK #3. Finish is completely intact, and is a heft silver plating, which is bubbling up in just a few places on the reverse. With such a minty, intact finish I get a little concerned about possible refinishing, although I like the look of the bubbling and slight fading on the reverse of the wreath (typical of wartime finishes).

Most of the ones I have on file have a silver or bronze wash type of finish, and only a few others have a thick silver plating like this. I can't imagine this is a modern finish, but would like to get some thoughts from you more experiences IAB nuts

    Thanks guys.

    Tom

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

      Hi Tom

IMO a stunning badge I probably have not seen a better one. Congrats

Like you, anything looking minty is a bit of a concern these days, but your badge looks very nicely aged with the occasional wear on a couple of the leaves. It does appear to have a better quality coating than most you see, but it does look original. I think I have one with a robust finish as well, but sadly It looks like mine had a flat wire catch repair..

      nice addition

      cheers

My opinion is the finish is original, just a lovely example.

I think the finish is postwar, so send to me, and I'll buy it for the price of a really bad refinishing job

In my opinion, this looks like a really nice badge.

Geez, nice badge. Has every characteristic you want to see in a nice, wartime zinc badge! I like it!

                Thanks guys, much appreciated

Graeme, I did find your example (with repaired catch) during my searches last night and I agree with you that it has a similar plated finish:

                Thanks guys,
