PAB mm "AS" in a triangle: different design

    Dear All,

Looking at my PABs I noticed that the two silver "AS" in a triangle PABs in my collection have a different obverse design. Not sure if that was discussed before, do we have an explonation for that, and are there athor design variations?

I will start with a picture of the identical reverse. The pics are not the best but good enough to see the similarities and the differences; the latter esp. in the grass area.

    Best regards,
    Al

      Dear Albert,

This was already mentioned a while ago but nobody gave an explanation for it.

IMO this only proofs that also in this case we had two different dies, designed by the same guy who used the same general design but made some little alterations.

When you throw the hollow and semi hollow AS in track marked PAB's in to the compare you will have 4 badges with the same design all featuring a slighty different grass area. I think its called artistic freedom

This is one question that has bothered me for a while. Why didn't the LDO create the Master, or mother die for the obverse and then sell daughter dies to the licensed dealers? That would have ensured quality and consistancy in the appearance of the awards.

Don now that would have been a nightmare to us PAB enthusiasts . Just imagine only the the "Trabbi" design with two dozen makers. Thank god the LDO stayed out of it.
