More evidence of different Legion Condor Panzer Badge manufacture

I just received a very interesting (and stunning) Heer Summer tunic eagle. Please pay attention to the hinge assembly:

That is the exact hinge part that is on my Legion Condor Panzer Badge:

This is the second time that I've ever seen another period badge with the same hinge device, and had to buy it.

              Nice match Yuri,

Am I correct in assuming that it are the cut off round corners of the lower hinge plate that makes these hinges so unique to you or are there other features?

                Philippe,

You are correct. That was the comparison that I was trying to make - that these hinges were used on other period-produced badges.

Here's a very similar hinge on an early, unmarked EK 1 (more details of which can be found here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=40328 ).

Yuri my best guess would be that this hardware is the predecessor of the same hardware we know from Wernstein, F&R and some other unknown badges but in that case with the rounded corners.

The layout is so unique that it's difficult to image that the design wouldn't have been pattented.

Is there a base plate under the catch of your Condor Panzer badge? Just asking because like on your summer eagle you always seem to encounter the use of this hinge in combination with a flat or round wire catch on a round baseplate.

                        Philippe,

There is no catch base-plate on my LCPB.

Yep George thats the one I was refering to.

The special thing on Yuri's hinge are the cut corners, never seen this on other badges (or crosses )

Also, I've noticed that the shape of the hinge device on the "earlier" versions is different than on the official Wernstein examples. The "earlier" hinges have a distinctly rounded top, and very defined circular cutout, while this cutout looks like a dimple on the Wernsteins.
