          Hi Shane,

This is a very uncommon GAB and although the strike looks a little soft there is nothing to worry about. It's in fact the zinc variant of this Buntmetall GAB. The easiest way to recognize this type are the two flat toped oakleaves on the right wreath side.

This example belongs to Frank H

              Philippe,

Thanks for your quick reply, I too like this GAB very much. One question though: Is the one I have posted Zinc or nickel Silver? This one is for sale on Joseph D'Errico's site and is quite simply on of the nicest GAB's I have seen. Is it Nickel Silver or is it Zinc? How can you tell?

              Thanks agian!

                Hi Shane,

I really couldn't tell without handling it. Based upon the pics you posted I assumed that it was the zinc variant of Franks badge because of the less crisp reverse look and the darker color.

However now that you tell me that it might be a nickel silver badge I find this very acceptable. This softer alloy would probably also explain the smoother look, and the neatly soldered on catch.

Why don't you just order it. I'm confident that JD will gladly refund you if your not 100% happy with it. Looking forward to your own opinion once you get it.

                  Thanks Philippe,

I have no worries at all about JD and his return policy, I was just curious about the metal used in its construction. I will most certainly be purchasing this one from JD! Anyway thanks for the comments and I will be sure to let you know what I think when she arrives!

                    Hello Gentlemen,

@ Shane, sorry but the piece is sold. Shane please E-mail me, kempotiger007@cs.com

I had no idea that you were interested in this piece. It went as part of a trade for an LW Crusher. But, I will take care of it via E-mail.

@Philippe, Piece is not zinc, nickle silver composite.

                    Best Regards,
                    JD

                          nickel silver?

Nice GAB, but this doesnt look like nickel silver, or German silver or altsilber..what ever you want to call it... that I have ever seen.

What makes you think this is nickel silver?

And whats "nickel silver composite" ??

Accidentally offending people on the internet since 1997
