Yes, A RK from the moment just before the beak detail got weaker and weaker.

                Regards, Wim

                    Hi Wim

I am not sure about that, the beak on this example looks bulbous and not as I would have thought it should have been?

What about the details on this badge, check the weak bayonet groove and handle, grenade pot, chest, sides of wings. I suppose it could be wear, but the hinge area also looks a little strange. Maybe some kind of misalignment in production?

Saying that, the material looks ok and the set up looks ok.

The more I look at it, the less comfortable I feel about it.

Andy, is there any chance of scanning it, to give a different view.

                    regards
                    Graeme

First picture, i didn't know what the maker is, and kinda guessed RK. I agree, the head looks off.

The bulk of good copies dated from after the release of Frank's book. So I woundn't expect such a copy in the 70's?

                          Regards, Wim

                            Hi Andy,

Thanks for the scan, it looks much more "normal" this way. I think the photographs made the badge look weird for some reason, but from your new scan it looks like a typical Rudolf Karneth to me.

I think the weaker detail might be due to the finish, I have seen several Karneth IABs with a similar thick finish and weaker details, here is one as an example, courtesy of fisher's excellent collection.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
