    Mint IAB

    Hi,

I have a question about this IAB. Due to the making and the appearance I think this is an original, although I have never seen a piece with these indentations on the back. If original, which maker could it be?

Thanks in advance for any input.

    Best regards,
    Os.

        Hi Os,

Your IAB is original and made by an as yet unknown maker. This type is referred to by collectors as a 'broken stem' IAB. Looks in very good condition, indeed.

The broken stem is the 7th oakleaf stem (starting at bottom left) on the outside of the badge. The "broken" feature is at the end of the stem. Hope that is clear and you know what I mean.

        Best regards,
        Eric

          Eric,

I'd like to thank you for your answer! This special insight on the "broken stem" is something I have never heard of before and will be of great value to me for future referense.

Thank you, I appreciate that a lot!

          Regards,
          Os.

            Hi Os,

You are welcome. I should also mention that not all 'broken stem' IABs have this feature/flaw. You can find examples/discussions regarding this type of IAB using the search function in this forum.

            Cheers,
            Eric
