Looks like a flatback or 'smirking' GAB as I prefer to call it; maker unknown. But I think the finish is new and the catch has been replaced. Just my opinion

Hi Johnny,

I would agree with Chad, an original but that has been refinished. This is a pretty common type of GAB, and they always have a very different finish than what you are seeing on yours.

I think what this finish reminds me of is this Wien Herr Flak that I've seen all too often. What do you guys think?

I think the finish is absolutely original. I have an IAB that has a very similar finish which was acquired in a vet grouping and I know it wasn't played with.

agreed. Your badge is a very nice piece with the typicall late war silver wash, which is not acetone proof.
