    Bages World War 2 veteran

    Hello,

I just want to share a nice picture of some badges and a KM stopwatch I received from a German veteran. He was an officer of a coastal artillery unit.

      Hello Skip,

Hereby the pictures of the Kriegsmarine stopwatch (front and back); infantry assault badge (front and back) and the front of the coastal artillery badge. The other pictures I put on later, because I have reached my maximum of 5 pics. The infantry assault badge is marked with the number 1.
The coastal artillery badge has the maker Schwerin Berlin at the back.

All the badges are in unwearn (mint) condition. He also gave me his own 6x30 binoculars which are KM adler and artl. marked and the hangers for the KM dagger and a Luftwaffe aluminium bowl. He said: "I must have the KM daggers too, but I can not find them". This happened about two and a half years ago. This man had many experiencies. He had his training and education at Roosendaal in Holland. Then he took off to Hoek van Holland (also in Holland) to join the coastal artillerie unit. He staid there for 4 months. After that he was transferred to the Krim area in Russia. There his unit (and all the other German units) was overrun by the Russian troops. He had a nearly escape on board a German minelayer. However, a few hours later this vessel was attacked by Russian divebombers and sunk! On board where about 600 soldiers packed together. So, you can imagine the panic and devestation on board of that ship. As one of the few survivors he was later picked up by a German destroyer and reached safely the harbor of Odessa. He also served in Greece and at the end of the war in Norway where he became a prisoner of war.

This man had gone through hell. He had lost may comrades in Russia. Telling about it set tears in his eyes. We become friends and when he is in Holland he come to my house or I go to him to drink a fine glass of wine. A remarkable and kind man.

        Hello Skip!

The pictures are not visible! I don't get it. I will sent them to your e-mail address. Do you know how to solve this problem? I am getting a little bit angry . I believe more association members have this problem.

          Frans.
What size and format are they in ?
          Save theme as *.jpg
          Keep them under 700 pixels.
Make a new reply for each new photo you want to show.

          Cheers.
