    "Junker style" Hinge/Catch IAB

    Hi Fellows,

Check out the hinge, it looks a little small don't you think? At the same time it don't appear to be resoldered too. What do you guys make of it?

    Thanks

          Hi Wunhur,

That really isn't a problem. The guide lines were developed to contain the bigger early hinges. Once they ran out of these they just used smaller versions. The same evolution can be seen on Zimmermann IAB's and PAB's.

Just like on these badge your badge was produced with continiously changing set-ups and finally ended up with crimped in hardware.

It looks like a Juncker, see the article by Yuri to compare.

It's not a Zimmermann at least, so possibly a replacement hinge but the award is in to a good condition ? You can obviously see the guide lines to fit a 'longer barreled hinge'.

You best off waiting for the other guys.

            Kind regards,

            Marcus

I would say either this is a Juncker which would make the so called Zimmermann PABs Juncker too (and consequently the so called Juncker PABs Zimmermann), or this is a Zimmermann IAB, according to the setup similarities with so called Zimmermann PABs.
              Cheers, Frank

                Frank,

Zimmermann IAB's do they all have a cicular plate under the catch then the oblong plate under that and Juncker the catch soldered to the oblong plate only ?

                Or am I talking rubbish

                Kind regards,

                Marcus

                  Hi Guys,

I think we should stop trying to determine makers only based upon reverse hardware.

It just doesn't make much sense to me that a company like Juncker that marked everything they made on one occasion or another completely forgot to mark their IAB's PAB's or the famous LGAB that also features this set-up.

Same thing goes for F. Zimmermann why mark you complete IAB production but never ever mark one PAB.

Think this specific harware was most likely used by dozens of companies in the early war years.

Marcus on marked zimmermann IAB's you will encounter the same evolution. Here are just two examples but there are many more combinations to be found that also end with a crimped set-up.
