edelweiss officer hat insignia ? opinions please

Hi ,
i got this from local gunshow. Looks old , with nice patina, no mm, nonmagnetic.
Possible officer hat insignia ????? Strange runes on the center...... any ideas?
I would appreciate for any opinions.

I never see one this type of edelweiss with this marks...

seems like this one is civilian DOEAV badge , also known as Mountain Troops Supporters.
