    Hmmm!
Difficult. I won´t go all out and say that this is a fake but some things do disturb me and give cause for suspicion.
All over it would appear very weak and "soft". Also the fact that the leaf that is normally between the sling (butt end) and the wreath is missing. Something I have observed on other cast fakes.

For the time being this one is going in my "very dubious" files untill I have had the opportunity to handle one. Will keep an eye open for these at the Stuttgart show.

        Hi stdub......

......I don't have any problem whatsoever about calling this badge what it seems to be.

        FAKE

Someone is trying to sell you a over-priced......you know what. Next time you're out trolling, cast it out and see what it'll bring in. Or send it to me and I'll intoduce it to the business end of my P-85.

Sorry, but this one just doesn't cut the mustard no matter how many tries are made.

          Hello Bruce,

hard spoken - but you should point out what is not correct with this badge. I think we all were sure after the first replies that this is not a badge to put in the collection.

But sense of the more pictures and discussion is to point out what is wrong to beware all of us to buy such fakes in the future, not only to tell it´s a fake.

          So let us know ...

          Best wishes

          Joerg

            Hi Joerg......

......you are correct. Hard spoken. Not spoken lightly. Take a look at the badge and many of the comments revolving around it. Roman even happens to have a twin for it in his 'questionable' heap.
Reasons: Phillipe has done quite well in his points of contention and to repeat them would merely be redundancy. My initial shock was the eagles head (which shows clearly in your second, darker shot). Looks clownish to me as if the head is a hood (with fringe at the neck). I wouldn't serve that bird for dinner.

Not to mention the missing oak-leaves.

It is very probable that this is one of the type SOLD AS REPRO and then cleverly repackaged to look original, to the unsuspecting.

You did ask for comments and I, for one, do not believe in dancing around an issue.

In my opinion (based solely on images here) is that the badge in question is FAKE and that there are enough points listed above to demonstate that point to just about all of us.

Joerg, I'm sorry that you got stuck with what you had hoped was a very A-1 condition variant. But the reality, again basing my decision on images here, is that the IAB is FAKE and will never be anything but a FAKE

Thankyou for letting us dissect this badge so that, in future, we will be protected from it and it's ilk.
            Again

                Hello James,

No not always the case, theres an FLL with the gap filled in, I don't recall what others do as well. I just remember this because I own a couple of FLL's (with gap).

Yet on the other hand I believe it is more synonymous with types of fakes pertaining to be which ever maker ???? So yes it's a trait of a fake to a extent.

(? Does that make sense, I'm not having a good day so far )

                Kind regards,

                Marcus

That´s not correct. Not a gap between Swastika and K98 is not a sign for a fake.

                    Hi Guys,

Just bringing this one back to the top.

Based upon what we saw in Stuttgart there is no doubt possible. These are fakes. We encountered 4 of them in the same boxes at different tables aswell as a couple without boxes.

                      ... hate those fakers!

I hope my mistake helped some of our members beware from the same mistake in Stuttgart. If yes, this "investment" was not for nothing at all.
