      Hi Jürg,

My first impression was whow what an absolutely stunning hollow IAB.

      However after looking a little closer I'm not so fond of it anymore for the following reasons;

      1. The design, a known design for massive IAB's but I have never seen it in combination with a hollow badge
      2. The way the badge is stamped seems very crude, leaving a lot of waste material arround the leaves.
      3. As a result of 2 the leaves aren't cut out at all
      4. There is a part missing of the first leave to the right off the wreath band.
      5. The eagles paws and claws are a lot less detailed on this hollow version than on the zinkers which doesn't make much sense to me.
      6. The non cut-out swas also seems asymmetrical

So at this moment I'm not really a big fan of it.

        Jurg,
There does seem to be far more flash (un-used material) all the way around this badge. It makes the borders seem "fat" when viewed from the reverse. This reminds me of the fake hollow-back PAB's that are encountered. I've not seen an IAB with these characteristics before.

I did not like from the beginning when I saw the picture before reading other people's comments. However, I am not very good with hollow backs, and tend to stay away from them because there are some good fakes. I passed on a few hollow PAB's that were probably good for the same reason.

            Hi Joerg,

The box is original though, this is a common 'generic' marble effect patterned box which by all accounts looks in very nice condition, with the tissue paper in it

            Kind regards,

            Marcus

              Dear Marcus,

I know your in to boxes but isn't it a little dangerous to call the box original based upon the little you can see off it in the pictures Jürg posted?

                Hello Gentelments!

I think we have discussed this badge not long ago.
If I'm not mistaken we have desided that it is a fake.
This badges in perfect condition & in boxes were sold in big quantity in Kassel
& I think that in Stuttgard there will be a lot of them.
I should say that disign is from Wein's manufacturer.
Maybe I'm mistaken-you can see the pic of the badge with similar disign.

Here comes another photo without flashlight - very dark, but the details are shown better. I will take some shots of the case and show them later.

Roman, you may be right. My IAB comes from another collector and it´s possible he got it from a show. I think I have to give it back.

                        Hi Phil,

Yes, I guess on the wiser part of caution in this hobby I should have stated, I'm very confident it's genuine, my mistake there thanks Phil for pointing that out

It looks like one of these.

                        Kind regards,

                            Dear Roman,

Thats an intersting IAB you just posted. I hope you would agree with me that the design is the same as the IAB's discussend in this recent thread

                            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=47960

However it's the first time I see this design in combination with an on cut swas. Ones more proof how widely spread design sharing actualy was.

@Marcus, thanks for posting the pics Marcus. I really have to trust your judgement on these boxes bacause I don't now anything about them
