    MAX 2010 pickup

I had a great time at the MAX - I was SHOCKED to find a total of SEVEN real Army Flak Badges! That said, six were priced between $750-1000 with the dealers not willing the budge one bit. I was able to get a marked R.S. at a VERY good price though, thus finally filling that hole. Oddly, the marking was scratched off the reverse. You can see the outline of the "R" through a loup - strange to have someone REMOVE a maker mark!

Still, I saw many, many more fakes than real, with the lizardman dominating the show. In fact one dealer had SIX lizardman fakes in one riker case on his table. Saddly he was at my presentation on fakes and I highlighted the lizardman - even after that he was still happy to sell them.

But it was a great show and I had a wonderful time walking the aisles with Tom and Chad.

      HI Marc-

"RS" maker marks were commonly removed by collectors/dealers some time back (I would say circa the 1970's-80's and earlier) when it was thought that badges by this maker were fake..this alteration was at times done perfectly at other times quite slopily depending on who did the removal with the intent of turning a "bad" badge by Souval into a good "unmarked" piece...

      Best,

      John

Nice badge Marc. Ironically, someone probably removed the mark in the mistaken belief that RS badges are post war.

Good point guys - had not thought of that. Sometimes it helps to be old and have so much perspective....

Great addition Marc, indeed one of the best deals of the show that I saw! Excellent detail on that RS and you cannot beat the finish, a real no-brainer. Congrats on a great find my friend.

Chris, I would be VERY worried, Marc and Chad were getting quite cozy walking the isles together. My brother was with me, so I didn't get too spend as much time as I would have liked with Marc going through all the fakes. Chad stepped up and took my place with Marc, I would be VERY worried if I were you.....

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                          Hi Marc

I am glad you found something for your collection.

The eagle on these are a very nice design imo.

                          congrats
