Not a long time ago Chris B. posted a wartime pic of this badge in wear on a LW Off.

By the way Seba, do you have a picture of the reverse you can post, and is that one yours?

Here is the back of it, and yes, I have it (it was donated to the site by a member of this forum).

The picture is a scan as I can only take good photos during the day. The membership pin is there to hold it steady so it would not tip one side of the other.

                Identical?

It looks just like the one in Forman's book.

Unfortunately, quality of this badge and a detail of a face sheet is much lower, than on a badge which I have.

Try and date it from that uniform :-))))))

                          Hi,

I admit to knowing nothing almost about uniforms, but both of these LW guys have the early pattern (droop-tailed) breast eagle. I know this pattern continued to be worn during the war, but no wartime decorations are visible - is that of any significance?

                          Regards

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

I merged the threads from before and this one in the hopes that we can get somewhere with it!

Well,I have a great deal of respect for Steve Wolfe, and it was stated that he was offering an example for sale recently. Beyond that, I have tremendous respect for Herr Niemann. Detlev recently offered an example on his Friday update, which I'm positive did not last more than a few minutes. So we have two respected dealers offering the badge, and two period photos of the badge in wear. Perhaps Detlev can shed some light on any known backround and criteria for the badge.
