    PAB Silver - Opinions please

    Hello to all!

About 20 years ago I bought this PAB Silver.

I do not know if it is original or not.

On the back there is a number "13" and under the number a symbol like an "I" in a circle.

Do You know about this (fake?) maker?

The badge is for sure is original but I'm not so sure about the maker mark, this PAB is thought to have been made by S&L. Could you show us a close up of the maker mark ?

Intresting. Is that an oval that is stamped below the number?

Well, it is nearly a circle with an "I" in it.

I am not a PAB-collector, but I have never seen these marks on a german medal. My first guess was: fake...
So this PAB went into a box for nearly 20 years. Now I did find it again, now we have the WAF and now I ask the experts.

                Hi Walter,

I agree with the others, this is an original S&L PAB, but with some marks on it that aren't familiar at all to us. My guess would be they were stamped in after the war sometime to maybe enhance its value since it is not something we have come across on any other S&L badge that I am aware of.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

It may be my eyes, but I think I see cast pitting on the reverse where all the stamped numbering is. Does anyone else or can someone explain to me why I am not correct with this observation?

                    Dave,
I noticed thoes also and they do look like pits that would indicate a casting. Another thing is the odd marks about the catch.

Yeah Chet, I noticed that too, but thought it may have been banged around at some point in its life. Either way I guess I would pass myself. JMO.
