Need Opinions on Heer Flak Badge

Hi, I bought this badge as an authentic Heer Flak Badge, and it seems to be very well made. Just want to run it by other members here and get some opinions.
    Thanks!

This is a very controversial badge. The most thins is a fake and very questionable IMO.
It would be very difficult to sell .
        Not for my collection

I agree, there seems to be a fair amount of concensus that these are fake WH Flak but then again quite a few also think they are good.

I have one in my collection (pics below) and I have to say even I think it is dubious and probably a well made repro!

However, I'm going to hang onto it until the agruement is resolved....one day!

              Cheers

Hi Marc, actually I do read the posts, and it was one of yours that convinced me that mine was in fact real! http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/Foru...=436499&page=2
Mine looks more like your "good" example than the bad one. I see that your example of a good badge has more of a silver-colored pin & catch, and the metal is a little more dull. Is that what make the difference or is there something else I'm overlooking? I see a lot of fakes that have a silver coating (that is flaking off), but mine isn't like that. Mine does seem to have a dark wash that is still visible in a few of the recessed areas.

I'm just trying to understand what it is about mine that tells you it's a fake. Any details you can give me would be appreciated...from you or anyone else out there.

                Thanks.

The reverse is the killer - look at craptastic hardware, the lack of shear marks, no green at all. But on the obverse compare the heads - you will see they are similar but not the same. The real one is not so bulbous. Anytime you find a silver one of these WH you have to say to yourself, this is a bad sign. Then you need to look at all the details.

I have an article coming out on these soon in IMC magazine that shows exactly what to look for, but to be honest if you just read that post you can figure it out.

Posting a close-up detail shot of back so other members can clearly see the maker mark, hardware, etc.
