    Juncker CCC observation...

    Hi guys,

I got a little question regarding the Juncker close combat clasps. I have seen now the fourth or fifth variation regarding a certain setup. It is the variant with "Full Banjo Style Pin". If you look in the excellent book by Tom, you will find the Juncker clasps in the variations 1.13.1 and 1.13.2.

So now my question, is it possible, that we got also a 1.13.3 with the full banjo style pin?

    Regards,

    Daniel

        Hi Daniel,

That is a great question. I too have seen a few Juncker's with the "banjo-style" pin, and agree that some of them might be original (like your silver example I have no problem with).

However, if you look at the pin on Merdock's, its a different style. The style on Merdock's is typical of reproductions, and can be found on the common FLL and F&BL fakes, butterknife fakes, etc. I don't have my book in front of me at the moment, but if you look in the back at the reproductions, I know one or 2 of these type of pins are shown (the pics are much more elongated near the tip on the fake pins).

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

          Hi,
Pins are similar , i'll ask jimmy if he replaced the pin on this one.it looks like the pin on the first clasp not the second.

Thanks Tom, I guess it was a little late yesterday. I should have recognized that.

These clasps leave me sometimes a little puzzled, just because of the sloppy soldering and the non matching hinge plate. On the one hand we have the perfectly matching 1.13.1 ans 1.13.2, on the other hand the full banjo style pin, with the sloppy soldering and the non matching hinge plate.

If you compare these full banjo style clasps to the Juncker presentation clasps, you can also find the sloppy soldering and the none matching hinge plate.

I attached some more pictures, I hope you see what I mean.

            Regards,

            Daniel

And one of the presentation clasps, not the same pin, but the same soldering(picture belongs to Tom):
