Dare I say I like all three ! I think they are all genuine, but Dave please wait for the more informed I'm a novice with no experience of hollow back IAB's I don't even own one, yet.

But from my limited files I can't find a reproduction thus so far to match your examples.

    I'll observe and learn.

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

        Hello Dave & Marcus!
As for # 1 - I would like to see a bit bigger scan.
        As for # 2 - I think that it's a good BSW.
As for # 3 - good made fake, just look on its brother, but the quality is not perfect.

            Hi Dave,

As far as I'm concerned only the BSW is OK the two hollow badges are copies.

Thank you for the responses thus far. Thanks again Marcus for helping me with the photos. Not sure why its not working at my end. Roman, although the front of my bronze IAB shares similar features with yours, there is no base plate under my hinge and the circular base plate under the hook is much smaller than yours. I just bought the silver hollowback from Craig Gottlieb and the bronze hollowback from Bill Shea. Did they both get fooled? Thanks again for all assistance.

                Hi Dave,

For sure they both got fooled and they are certainly not the only dealers fooled by a lot of badges produced by the same guys responsible for your bronze IAB. These badges come with lot of different setups and their condition ranges from "just survived Stalingrad" (Roman's example) to "look I never got of the shelf (your example)

Just compare the catch on your bronze IAB with the bronze PAB in this thread (post 4)

Or with the "Hollow Destroyer"!!!!!!!!!! in this thread. Posted by accident in a recent update of a very famous dealer.

Concerning your silver hollow IAB, rest assured no original IAB will ever display the kind of new rust traces that are clearly visible on the badge you posted.

                  Dave,
I also feel that the two hollow-backs are copies. The bronze IAB has been discussed before and is accepted as a known fake. The fresh rust on the silver IAB is not a good sign at all. I would ask for my money back from both of the dealers.

I should add that I have been in contact with both dealers and they have both stood up to make things right. Dealers like Craig and Bill make this hobby more enjoyable for me. A big Thank You to both.

Should be the other way round IMO:

Make things right FIRST and then STAND proud.

Could be worse though, at least you will be happy in the end.
                        Cheers, Frank

                          The first hollow badge....

Well, gentlemen, we have a problem here. The fist IAB hollow back in mint condition is like one I have. And this badge is TOTALLY matching in detalis of the pressing of a known original. I have both this type in mint conditon and in slightly used conditon (tombak with silvering) Some flaws in the pressing that is present on the known original is also on this one.

However what differs is the catch and the fact that the space between the swastica and the rifle is not there! All other detalis is the same. So, either they have found the original templates and manufactures modern copies from this or this is an original wich just lacks the space and with different catch. Also the silvering and the condition is extremely mint! The rust stains can come from another source or from the needle where it is bend to match into the hinge.

I would love to have inputs by you gents who are fare more knowledgeable than me. But for my self I cant just accept this as a fake right away!

What do you think of this now?

                          Keep up the good work,

                          Felix

Time to move this thread to the top again..

In my opinion its not clear that the first hollow back IAB is a fake. Anyone else who want to comment on this? Read my above post for detalis.

                              Hello

In my opinion both hollow IABs are fakes.

                                Please point out to me...

the bad signs on the first Silver hollow back IAB. I really dont get it. The only suspicious thing is the intact finish. Howeve in details it matches originals.

                                This is my analysis.

                                /Felix.
