    Need help with Souval IAB.

    Hello:

    I'm interesting in this IAB of Rudolf Souval. I'm not a expert and have many doubts about this controversial maker.

    The badge very is pretty. But I concern about the space between the swastika and the rifle. The cacht seem that opens to the left. The letters RS are correct?

    The award is made in time of war or post-war.

    I only have this two pictures:

    Nobody wants to say something

    I'm looking in the book of Sascha Weber and the two pattern what appears in it don't have the swastika separate of the rifle. The catch are open toward the right and not to the left.

    Finally I have many doubts whether it is a badge made after the end of the war, given its mint appearance.

    Please, any opinion

      Well I like it.

      You are correct to raise the cut out swas, but I have seen this before on an RS IAB that looked in a much more worn state, where you could see the zinc under the finish, giving a good feeling of it being genuine.

      The pics you show have a lot of light, so in hand the badge might not look so minty. Mint RS badges should not necessarily be a sign of post war, and in my opinion RS is definitely not contoversial...It is well known that they manufactured after the war but these are usually identifiable.

      The badge you show has good detail and original style hardware. You are also correct in RS not usually having catches that open to the left, but this mistake could easily be made, I guess.

      It is not a textbook example for sure, and for some this might be a worry. It for sure was not cheap the last time I saw it.
