    Unknown Maker Mark

    Hi Guy's,

Just found this mm on a PAB mini.

It looks like an "H" sitting in a "W".

Does anybody recognizes this mm or knows what it stands for?

    Philippe,
Is it indeed an "H" sitting on top of a "W" or a two sided "W"? I hope you know what I mean.

      Hi Philippe,

      I don't have any "concrete" information , but a couple of possibilities based on the initials used could be;
      Walter & Henlein , Lieferant # - 109
      or
      Heinrich Wander, Lieferent # - 131
      or
      Hermann Wernstein Lieferent # - 5
although the confirmed mark for Wernstein is different.

        Hi Philippe,

Just a thought but is it possible to link the obverse details of the badge with one of the makers listed by Paul? Or don't the minis differ in the required way?

        All the best,
        Toby.

          Toby, you clever boy

That's exactly what I was doing. Got 6 PAB mini's yesterday and following Gordon's thread featuring the U-Boat mini's I thought it would be simple to do the same with PAB's

That was a mistake. It's a verry difficult thing to do. When you hold them in your hand they look very nice and detailed but once you start to blow them up there isn't much detail left to work with. Everything all of a sudden starts to get a little blurry.

Alltough the 6 mini's are all a little different I managed to recognize two designs of which I'm certain. Wernstein & F&R, with the third one most lickely being Zimmermann

Problem is only one is mm and that is the mini I posted above featuring the Wernstein design. So it would be easy to think HW might stand for Herman Wernstein and it's just another logo that they used but since a lot of the badges featuring that design are unmarked it could as well be Walter & Henlein I guess.

Anyway I'll post an obverse of the mm mini tonight.

Philippe, maybe it's not, WH, but MH upside down, if you look at the two legs of the _H_ this is mostly the bottem of the H. just a tought to think about.

              Dear Den,

I donĀ“t think it is an upside down logo, since it is part of the die, not a logo stamp.
              Cheers, Frank
