    WH Wien - good!

After a lot of debate and finally getting ahold of a few I think I can say there is a type that is good. It is the same one shown by Mark Miller here:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=wien+flak

These are so very close in design, construction, and finish to the Luftwaffe flaks that I think it is time for me to get off the fence. I have just gotten another two sets in from a solid source and I am now confident this type is good. They are VERY different from the fakes. The fake finish is often silver, the head is VERY different as are many other details. The back is also different - especially the edges.

I know Giel and others will say - what took you so long? But I think it was better to question them in my book saying I am not sure. Now after much more research I can say, you know, everything looks good on these. This is an example of a heavily faked badge just turning people off. I hope this sets the record straight.

    Good one with period repair:

        Hi Marc,

Good to hear you got yourself out of the riddle. The first two badges look indeed like original ones, the third is a very common fake often seen as good by many collectors.

I love the green finish on the first one, this exact same type of finish was applied on Hobacher luftwaffe flak badges and is for me one of the top solid links that these badges are good.

Package is looking good as well!

So, what took you so long?
        Kind regards,
        Giel

Very nice Marc, and I can only agree that these do look really good to me. Like Giel, I think the biggest selling point as far as I am concerned is the dark green, glossy finish on these, VERY typical of Hobacker LW flaks.

                      WH Heer Flak Badges

I appreciate someone finally looking into this issue. In the early 90's I purchased a LARGE lot of badges, pin, & medals (every single piece GOOD)....and one Heer "WH Wien" Flak badge was in there...and I kept think...this has got to be good. I kept thinking Why would "ONE" single piece be bad?? I never sold it...I just set it aside. It is also "greenish". AGAIN..Thanks!!

                          WH Wien Heer Flak Badge

                          Hi Folks,

I finally took pix of my Heer Flak badge HM "W.H. WIEN"...and it has a green tone to it....and based upon the above it looks good...AGREE or NO AGREE??

Again..Thank you for clarifying this whole "WH WIEN" issue.

I agree that your photos are out of focus. Sorry, just too easy. Look, it is probably good, but can you honestly ask anyone to make comments on something where half a badge is not visible? Take STRAIGHT on photos and post them. Front and back. I like what I see, but let me ask you this...if I showed you a picture of my sister and her face was not visible would you date her?
