Infantry Assault & Field Document - Thoughts?

    Hi,
I bought this infantry assault badge & field document as a set some years ago. This is supposed to be the actual badge that was awarded, but I wanted to run it past the other members to see what everyone thinks. I feel quite certain the document is original, but wanted to double check on the badge.
The badge is late war. (Document is dated 1, April 44.) I believe the badge is made of zinc, and is beginning to corrode. I can still see the slightest bit of the silver wash in some areas. The pin on back is rusted, and the latch at bottom is gone.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

          Hi

In my opinion, a well worn original that has seen better times. This design is thought to be made by R.K.

I would treat it with vasoline to stop the corrosion, very apparent on the reverse.

          best regards
          Graeme

Thanks so much for the info! I had no idea you could or should use vaseline on medals such as this. Thanks for the tip!
