    Awarding of the Sniper badge

    Hello

I hope this is the right place to post this....

As I understand it, there exists no 100% genuine, without doubt war time photo of the German Sniper award in wear or being awarded?

    Correct?

I have read in some previous threads that some people doubt it was ever awarded, at all.

Surely, there would be some newsreel footage, from Deutsches Wochenshau or the Wehrmacht newspaper to show this?

I would appreciate to hear thoughts from other members on this, I am just throwing up some thoughts, agree or shoot them down if you wish.

I understand the award may well be documented in a Soldbuch, but ever actually issued?

Well I am still confused by these badges really.

There are a lot of threads on them, but really no concencus on what is genuine,

I was looking at this picture today, found in this youtube video clip:

yes you are right this badge though it certainly existed on paper has not been seen on wartime photos to date. The one you show is not a type that i believe is genuine. The originals in my opinion are all of the same construction and come on grey backing or on army green cloth- although many believe that the army backed ones are also copies, I think both backings are ok

Isn't that though war time footage, so the badge should be pre 1945 made?

No one else has anything to add regarding the badge shown in the footage?

No it's not pre-45 footage. It's a made up video where someone spliced in photo of the badge.
