    Heer Marksman Lanyard

My apologies if this is the wrong category.

I have to assume this is a repo for I have not seen a double braid like this one has. In person, the odd thing is it is really well made and intricately woven.

Could this be a Bundeswehr piece that someone has modified? Seems weird to go to all the effort in the fine detailing just to make a repo that would not be worth all that much.

    Thanks in advance.

From your images, this lanyard appears to be a private-purchase lanyard. These lanyards often featured thinner, double entwined cords with more than 14 main twists, sometimes considerably more than 14 main twists.

In Neil Stewart and my book, BULLS-EYE: German Army Marksmanship Lanyards and Tank Destruction Badges, we present several photographed examples as well as period photos showing these private-purchase lanyards in wear.

I see nothing wrong with the lanyard.

Thanks guys for the information. I searched the WAF for info on lanyards and saw nothing like this so I really assumed it was a repro but well done.

It is great to think it just may be okay afterall.

            Much appreciated.

I have two of these private-purchase Army marksmanship lanyards. I bought them both for the same price a standard, issue version would have cost me.

                        Mike,

Your question is difficult to answer as it is akin to asking what is the standard price for a tunic. The price depends greatly upon what kind of tunic and its condition.

Having said that, the price range for Army marksmanship lanyards, Grade 1, in collectible condition, would be from $75 - $125.

Thanks, you answered what I was looking for. A price range, I guess I should have said that. Was offered one and I wanted to see if the price to me was okay or not. Again, thanks as you saved me some money! Mike
