PAB 100 with Turkey Head Variation

    Hi Everybody,

I've been offered this badge and though, I suspect it is a fake (Turkey Head; poor detailing; overall crude look etc.), I would appreciate your opinions rather than condemn an innocent badge.

    Thanks for looking.

    All the best,
    Toby.

      Hi Toby,

Compared to my fakes this lacks the quality of both my fakes and the pictures of originals which I've studied time and time again.

Rivets, eagle, pin and much more I would say it's naughty I'm afraid.(I thought the rivet's were just aluminium for a start, there seems to be a bit of prevailing copper tone showing ?)

But, you never ever know........so please wait for the experts.

      Kind regards,

      Marcus

        Hi Marcus,

Thanks for commenting. Actually, the rivets really leap out at you - they look just like pieces of copper wire, crudely fashioned into rivets.

It does come with a good story though!
        Best,

        Toby.

          Dear Toby,

Not like anything I have ever seen, be it an original or a copy. What IS the story it came with?
My gut says "no", but I am curious to learn as much as possible about these PABs and their fakes.
          Cheers, Frank

            Hi Frank,

Thanks for replying. As to the story, well, that remark was more tongue in cheek than anything.

I was approached by a guy at one of the UK Fairs (Aldershot). He told me that he does house clearances (estate clearances) and had picked this up, along with a few other pieces (which I'm yet to see).

I didn't have my camera with me at the fair (the first time I haven't taken it!), so he eventually managed to mail me the pics.

The one thing that struck me as possibly convincing was the gilt finish, though I suppose this wouldn't be difficult to recreate.

            All the best,

            Toby.

PS Farnham Fair tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Hi Toby, I have only one question why do you call it Turkey Head ?

                Hi Sergey,

The Turkey Head name, was in fact suggested by a fellow forum member, no doubt as a result of the finely worked adler.

But what did you make of the badge?

                Best regards,
                Toby.
