    Condor Legion Tank Badge

I know nothing but these are a dicey badge to evaluate so I present you some photos sent to me & would love to hear some articulate opinions.

This is purported to be original. Presupposing it passes the sniff test here, what do these things go for these days.

    Guidance would be swell.

    Thanx, Rick

I dont think you can evealuate this one pricewise, as a retail price is standard in standard accepted pieces only IMO. It depends what the seller wants and by that price would determine( if i were in your shoes, and wanted to buy it ) if i would be willing to purchase it. (or not)

What is the sellers positions.. for preporting its original.(what else does he say about it?) . I am in no way at this point saying it is or isn't, its just when people want opinions they always leave a lot of important info they have , and dont always mention ...out of the loop.

I sorta like the detail....in some aspects, and cant see as clearly as I would like to have seen some closer shots of the hook, and hinge, and also a closer one of the skull (and maybe the coronary sutures front and back side details . But i suppose you only have these shots.

I dont like that the curved marks above the eyes have been buffed off or removed(possibly flattened). Those make it have the appearance of what some call the wiedmann version(except no dimples on leaves) , so thats not good....looks deliberate to me on the flattening of those eye hooks.
Hinge doesnt seem to be of a type usually seen on this type...but i have never been sure there are not exceptions to the absolute rules some relate in regard to this controversial badge. Seems ive seen this one before, hhhmmm. Oh one more thing, ....the one track on the inside near the bottom has a drastic angle im not sure about.
Usually the tracks are parallel ....so thats also a negative..aspect
One more question....is there any finish you can see..anywhere... with the naked eye when its in hand?

This is a post war copy. A fairly good one, but still a copy. If you do a thorough search here on the WAF you will find a post with the numerous post war copies made by R. Souval and others.

All I can say about it is that it is coming out of Virginia, allegedly from a good sized collection of items brought back after the war. The person who has it in hand is a guy I've done business with, who's sold me some outstanding things in the past and whom I trust.

It's described as a type 2 version badge 60mm-48mm nickel metal.

            Sorry I don't know more.

An afterthought - Having looked around at some other threads related to this subject matter I note the originals appear to have the pin set up as a 'T' arrangement versus as a separate pin wrapped around the hinge. I have virtually zero experience with these so there may well be other pin systems that were used but the ones I saw purport to be 2nd model types had a 'T' style pin. Can any speak specifically to this observation?

I also note in passing - the base plate of the hinge of the alleged originals all seem to have a notch in the base plate at the center whereas this one lacks it. Are there variations I missed?
