Thanks for the feedback DirksGirl. What about the PAB gives it away as a fake?

So the others look good to you?

The PAB is a very known old fake, no Original Maker had such design, the first GAB I cant see from the pictures, the second GAB is for me also a fake "angry duck" The ironcross could be good

The EK1 looks like a good Souval, post it in the Crosses forum for more feedback.

Ok guys... I'm curious about the PAB, and what about it is bad. Is it the hollow back, is it the pin placement, style, what? I've been doing some research on these and it looks like they vary in designs and manufacturing processes, and not all have maker marks, so before I just give up on this badge I'd like a little more info as to why you feel its a fake.

The reason why I'm not just outright dismissing this one, as I usually will when the general consensus is that an item is fake, is because I know the source and she was passed these from her Grandfather who brought them back. I guess it's possible he picked this up at a show at some point in his life, but I'd really like to get some solid "Reasons" why you feel they're fake, versus just saying they're fake. Plus, it helps me learn

              Thanks!

                Dzyner,
The PAB in question is a well known fake. The eagles head resembles a Toucan and it is commonly refered to as the "Toucan fake" The desige of this badge does not in anyway resemble any known period produced examples. Just about everything that can be wrong with this badge is. It has been around the hobby for many years now. Someones grandfather got hosed along the way at some point in time.

Ah-ha! Thanks for elaborating Chet! It makes so much more sense now that you point out the issue with the Eagle's beak! WoW!!

It gets frustrating sometimes when everyone says something is fake, but does not elaborate on why. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY appreciate the feedback from everyone, but I like to learn along the way.

Thanks again to everyone for their feedback!

                  Dzyner!

first shown gab is known as the angry donald fake (deumer design)as mentionned ,notice the beak of the eagle, second gab is a bad RK based design als fake.
The pab is explained and to me the EK1 also gives me a bad feeling, at least the swaz is messed with, but IMO the EK1 is also fake, sorry.
