    Silver Bandenkampfabzeichen

Well I thought I'd stopped buying BKA's but this one was hard to resist. It may have been shown before by the previous owner, not sure but something like this won't hurt to be seen again..

My pictures don't do it justice, it's one of those things you have to have in your hand to appreciate.

Rarely do you see a BKA with 99.9% of the silver finish remaining in fact I've never seen one with so much of the silver plating remaining, all the highlights are there with full plating and shine where normally these are worn off exposing the zinc for the opposite, in effect a 'low-light' on most examples. Difficult to capture but it has full plating, where it looks like its worn where they do normally wear on the high points, this one is not, all plating is there and reflects makes the badge look quite different, just hard to show in a photograph.

Looking on the reverse the only areas wihere you can see zinc are the small dots/spots around the rim edge.

This one has had some good attention to detail by the maker, hand finishing file marks visible, example in the area between the left hydra mouth to body, the 'flashing' points often remaning there have been deliberarately cleaned up with a file prior to plating.

Difficult to show all of the detail as I don't have a macro lense. Shots taken with a 50mm lens on a SLR so the images are only about 20% of the camera sensor area. I need a macro lense!

Purchased from a member here, Sscrooge - and a top man to deal with, super fast shipping, as good if not better than described and pictured.

IMO this one has just the right balance of condition, detail and "been there" about it! A Cracking textbook original piece mate! Congrats!

                Steve,

I tried to buy that little beauty two years ago but it wasn't for sale at the time and I bought another one which itself has an interesting history.

Congratulations on getting this choice piece.

Never seen a Bandenkampfabzeichen in the silver grade in this perfect condition and with such a silver shining finish! Are you able to make some scans in high qualityof your new addition? Good scans could show the piece better, than pics with flashlight.
                    Thank you,

                      Hi Gerd,

Yes, the pictures are poor, I don't have a suitable lens for small items at the moment. I'll update in the future with a better image.

                      Cheers,
                      Steve
