    Interesting Brehmer

This Brehmer Heeresflak has all the hallmarks and die-faults on the front. She looks a little softer than some I have seen, but there are no casting marks as far as I can see. What gets me is the reverse. Looks like a Meybauer marking along with a non-standard Brehmer hardware.

The catch is the same as their zinc luft flaks - but minus the catch plate. The hinge just isn't what I expect - should be rounded edges.

Any thoughts on this one are appreciated!

        Hi Marc,

Like I told you in the emails, I haven't ever encountred this hardware on any Brehmer badge before. Also odd to have a Meybauer mark, I wonder how it compares to other Meybauer marks? Since no other Brehmer has been found marked like this, it has to be asked if this mark is original to the badge. Certainly looks so from these pics.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Here is a thread with a Meybauer marked Deumer Flak:

          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=meybauer

So there is precidence. The hardware makes me wonder more than the marking to be honest...but the badge itself looks good to me.

The badge shows a good Meybauer mark and a setup which can be found on many Meybauer marked badges.

All of the so called Brehmer badges show setups which can be found by many other makers too and there was not a single setup on the so called Brehmer badges which can't be found on Mebauer badges too.

In the other thread there was the question why maker marked ones are so rare:

Since the Luft badges weren't for the private sales market until late 1944 there was no need to mark it with the private sales LDO code. So it's imo logical that we have more unmarked than maker marked badges.

Imo the link of this design to Brehmer isn't waterprrof and with this Meybauer marked badge it's of higher possibilty that Meybauer is the real firm behind the so called Brehmer badges. Just my 2 cents ...
              Best regards, Andreas

                Andreas,
Much appreciated! I look forward to seeing the Meybauer markings to compare. One thing though - so what if the Luftwaffe didn't sell maker marked badge - this is a HEER badge. You have me confused.

                    OH!

But on the "Deumer" Flak I have to say we have a lot more than just hardware.

i have my very own opion about Deumer and the hell of badges which is linked to them but that would fill this thread

We should first start with this badge here
                      Best regards, Andreas

                          Hi guys,

This Brehmer/Meybauer connection is indeed complicated and Andreas does bring up some good points. However, regarding the Deumer, it is much more conclusive, at least in my opinion.

Andreas, if you can find another badge that has this UNIQUE pin in combination with this UNIQUE catch and is NOT on a Deumer badge, I will eat the badge This is the hardware found on the so called "Deumer" flak badges and I would be very surprised to learn if you found these on any other badge other than Deumer. I have no doubt that you have uncovered a TON of evidence with all your research for the wound badge book, and have learned to think twice before I challenge you
