Not that I would buy anything from Detlev (for a number of reasons), but this is just really pathetic.

Thanks Steve for posting those images from the book. You will notice it is the same badge as the one on the left. It gets very tiresome to constantly explain this and that about why these badges are fake only to have people who don't know anything argue about why a book who's purpose was to document the fakes commonly available 20 years ago is now not good enough. Detlev has put one of these crappers in his book and has sold a few of them over the years (I remember one that had been aged to look like it was torn off a uniform). If you compare them to Jacques' originals you will see they are not close to what an original should look like.
best wishes,
jeffLooking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

Mr. Allerberger never got a Knights Cross. Mr. Niemann should reallly start to invest in some books. I can recommend Veit Scherzer "Ritterkreuzträger 1939-145", among others ...
Than fact does make the EK2 RK conversion more than questionable ... I can't comment on the sniper badge but see the similarities to the fake very clearly. Somebody got taken big time.

Yes, Allerberger was not knights cross winner - but it seems, that he is thinking that was a knights cross winner !
There a lot of fake stories about knight cross winners. If you are looking at the new hermann historica catalogue No 8329 : selling knights cross, iron cross I and II of Waffen-SS knights cross winner Kurt Launer !
Look the condition of the iron cross first class ! With engraved on the backside" Kurt Launer 7.VII.1941"! A stupid story for stupid collectors?

Right, but that was not the direction my comment was aimed at...

There is a reason they are not mentioned: because by he law of the issuing land they never got one. You either go by the procedure (which has been described in several books) or you just throw the awards around. What if Schoerner in a moment of desperate motivation would have said: all my solders got the RK?
This is not about the bravery of the soldier(s) - this is about the laws and regulations of the Order of the Iron Cross. Allenberger was brave, no doubt, but he was never awarded a Knights Cross. Not because of his fault but rather because the system was no longer in place.
