    Assmann bronce PAB review

    Hello Collectors,

I have this beautiful Assmann Bronce Cupal PAB and before it goes I would like to know if the catch might have been replaced.

There is quite a bit of solder around hinge and catch. I know that this can be seen often with Assmann PABs and IMO this is only some surplus and not a sign of a replacement on this badge

Your opinion about that is welcome
Thanks in advance and kind regards

    Martin

Looks like there is some bronze finish on top of the extra solder.. so IMO it's OK.

                      Hallo Martin,

I can only agree, a very nice and not often encountered Assmann PAB.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                          Hello All,

please have nother close look to this nice PAB:

May I lead your attention to the eagle on reverse....there are some small kind of silver areas showing on this badge.... on the eagleĀ“s head and on the left wing from the eagle.

As supposed the badge to be a cupal and bronce colour this is a question how it come it looks silver there??
Or is this a sign for zinc?

Is there some sort of several layer / coats on top of the Cupal, underneath the finish??

Thanks for your help and opinion on this issue

                          Kindest regards

                          Martin

                            Hi Martin,

It became clear to me after handling so many of these cupal ones, that only some of these Assmanns received two plates of copper. Yours only has the copper plate on the obverse and alu on the inside, which was finished afterwards. That's the reason why you can see alu under the coating and that's the reason why you can only see a double sandwich on the side of the rim (insted of a three layer constructed one).

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your piece, it's a really nice looking piece which i would buy any day!
                            Kind regards,
                            Giel
