Hi Octavians,
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with this badge. It is a perfectly orginal GAB, most likely produce by Wilhelm Deumer. There is not much finish left at all, only existing on the hinge, pin and catch (which are all perfectly original for this type of GAB). It is shown as Unkown Maker #3 in the Heukemes book, page 224 & 225.

Hallo Martin,
Yes, I can see how that may look that way and is an easy mistake to me. But that is because the cheap wash finish used by many makers later in the war on their zinc badges usually evaporates from the zinc badge, but stays on the higher quality parts like the hinge, pin and catch. These were made of brass or nickel silver and the high quality metal was able to hold onto the finish better.
