    hi guys,

can you tell me which maker this is. I couldn't find the badge in the book of Heukemes.

    warm regards

      Hi Tom

I think it is an S&L. Now it looks pretty convincing to me.

But I have some concerns. The 2nd leaf down on the left has a couple of small irregularities, which would not normally bother me, but the fakes of this badge, as highlighted in Franks book, have larger flaws in this area. Coupled with the fact that the set up is not the usual set up, just puts me on edge.

On the plus side it looks convincing and nicely worn with good reverse details.

Maybe some of the other guys with S&L Hollow GABS will chime in..

Does the badge feel flimsy and as if it could easily bend with little pressure, a point associated with the known fakes?

      regards
      Graeme

        Hi Graeme,

thanks for have a look to my gab.

The badge is hard, I didn't bend with light pressure.

I like it. The end of the pin looks good too. Have you any side shots of the hinge and catch?

          regards

            Hi Graeme,

I will make some pics tomorrow in daylight of the catch and the hinge, I don't like pics made with flashlight.

Tomorrow the pics will be posted here.

            warm regards,
            Tom

                    Hello guys,

can I assume that this is an S&L GAB?

                    warm regards,
                    Tom

                      Hi Tom

Thanks for posting the extra pics.

The design is S&L for me, and as I said before, looks good to me.

I am surprised with the lack of response you have had, but I can only assume that some of the members that regularly post are not comfortable if they do not see the exact same example in a book in front of them.

I own quite a few GABs but for some reason never got round to getting S&Ls. I would love to see some more hollow S&L GABs posted, there must be a few out there...

                      best regards
                      Graeme

I only have a massive S&L, and have never seen a hollow one in hand, but from what I see, I kind of like it. Base metal seems consistent with others...

The only thing that made me hesitant was that I'm used to seeing the classic S&L hinge that we tend to see them use on their hollow examples (1.15.1).

Graeme, what are your thoughts on the hinge? I have neither seen this before, nor on the searches I just ran.

                          Hi guys,

I agree that the badge looks quite convincing, but I think it´s still a fake.

Looks like the fakers tried to correct the oakleaf flaw mentioned by Graeme and somehow managed to get a more detailed reverse then on the older hollow S&L fakes, but it´s still not perfect IMO.

There are more small differences when compared to an original S&L...

The setup is also atypical for S&L.

That´s enough for me to make me think we are looking at a new fake here.

The GAB is looking fake to me...the hardware set up is exactly the same on some hollow fake WB's...also you can find the barrel style of hinge instead of the block one...
