Well, on closer inspection I must confess that you and Chad are most likely correct Bernard...good points guys.

              Hi guys,

could someone please explain to me what makes this a fake? Is this just the grenade flaw or are there other characteristics? I also thought this one is definately a good one.

The base metal is brass and not the Staegemeir alloy, the obverse detail is very good, plus this piece was obviously silvered and shows a believable patina.

              Regards,

              Daniel

I think what we see here is a tombak RK

So Giel, does that mean the Stick grenade flaw is not the Staegmeier version, as Daniel says mate...i.e. was I actually correct in my first analysis and this is an original?

                        Bernard,

I would consider the first badge you posted original, I can´t say for sure if the second badge is original, but it looks also ok. But for a definite answer, you need to post better pictures(straight on, front and back).

                        Regards,

                        Daniel

Chris, and all the others with questinable RK GAB's in tombak, could you please post a straight sharp observe and reverse picture?

This morning I looked over the granade spot indeed but I have not seen one which such a believable patina and base material.
                          Kind regards,
                          Giel

This is not an original tombak RK GAB IMO. Very convincing aging, though.

It has certain characteristics in common with the known fake version of this badge.
Setup is also different to wartime original RKs.

                              Hi Danny,

Think you are right here. Ones more proofs that these tombak RK's are one pain in the ass
                              Kind regards,
