    IAB maybe

Before you guys nail it as a fake. I had asked a guy years ago about it and he copyied a page out of a book he had. It was a bad zerox and the book was written in German...so I was unable to read it, but the photo showed these same mold marks. I have been unable to find this amongst the fakes posted...yet. This is not made of lead...I know it looks flawed but...what do you guys think?

My first impression is that someone used an original IAB to make a mold for a repro. The color of the metal is strange. The hinge and catch on originals of this maker are integral with the casting. Note the hinge which should be rounded on top is squared off. And the catch is not integral to the casting but soldered on.

In sum, not an original badge. Original examples of this maker's IABs come marked either 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 and all look exactly the same.

The hing, catch and pin have always bugged me along with the splashover on the back.

...just maybe the xerox copy with German text was showing a repro the same as this, not beyond possible huh!
          Cheers, Steve

I would not want it in my collection. Even the swastika is missing a piece on the bottom leg

Although the obverse has quite good details..the reverse is very ugly

                  regards
