    IAB Unmarked example

    Hi Guys

I would like to solicit your thoughts on this example.

I got this example from Giel and have tried to find another with the same obverse details but not having much luck.

I have formed my opinion of the badge but would like to hear what you guys think.

    Best Regards, fischer

Is there too much solder so we can't see a round catch plate? I'm getting paranoid probably already

No. It's nothing as cryptic as that. Stewy

                    Hi Fischer

Well that is a very interesting badge.

It has many characteristics and die features of an unmarked Deschler from the obverse, but the reverse profile does not match most of the unmarked Deschlers that we see. The reverse profile matches closely to the type of badge Bruce showed a link too.

You can see from the obverse, that some areas are not neatly cut out and this contributes to the reverse profile.

Based on the obverse design, the talons, centre left leaf design, rifle butt area, for me this is a Deschler.

                    regards
                    Graeme

First is the badge that started this thread.

Next we have an unmarked Deschler variant.

To me the talons are very close to the Deschler design.

The shape of the Eagle's head looks to me like the unknown variant referred to as a slim stalk.

                            Hi Don,

a very good idea comparing the eagles, i always thought that theres some connection with Deschler and Slim stalk. But what about the broken stem designs? For me there are some big simularities. Check them out.

The first eagle comes of a so called 3th pattern Broken stem, the one with the semi hollow reverse. Please look at the chest feathers and compare them to your first badge.

And now compare this first pattern broken stem, (the one with the actual broken stem), with your unmarked Deschler.

This whole thing is very confusing..
