So what's the deal with an author and dealer of such repute trying to pass off such items as the genuine article? Does anyone have scruples left? (Rhetorical questions!)....just never ceases to amaze me!

Well I have seen the 200 PAB in other books as well.

Most notable one of the very early ones in English that date back to the 50s. Having seen Aisby's book I think he sourced most of it from Sawicki 's 52 book

here are some I have

Nazi War Medals' (1948?) Babin present
'German Decorations and Medals' (1952) Sawicki present

in English

and in German

'Die Ehrenzeichen des Deutschen Reiches' (1947?) Hessenthal present
'Fur Tapfekeit und Verdients', Klietmans not present but neither are any of the other grades

Angolia and Ailsby

I am glad that I didn't buy any Angolia and Ailsby books as reference books because they are already exposed as crooks. I will buy reference books from B&D Publishing. Those books from B&D are very best for Third Reich medals! Of course I already have my Durante CCC book in my reference library.

Back in 1987, Chris Ailsby facilitated a visit by Jack Angolia to the UK, to 'meet fellow collectors'.

Gordon Williamson and I met them both in Edinburgh in June that year.

I was not impressed.

Jody, Thanks for sharing this! The sad fact is that these Bum's probably moved right along and found another collector with more Money and less brains that purchased it! We all have heard the stories of this guy, Full tank of money, While the collector knowledge tank is empty!

Dinsmore has always had a bad reputation, like ken clausen, among a handful of others who sell fakes for original retail prices in the az area(with no money back guarantee for more than a day or two). Im sure he still wears the same red stinky hat to this day.(still unwashed)
He has also pulled crap on me i could lay out also. If gayle had something good, its always twice the price....and nobody respects him, because if he cant steal something from you proverbially , he will blow the deal with anybody who tries to buy it from you. (thru dis information to your buyer)

He did that to me once. I do not respect him, or clausen.

Clausen has committed lots of mail fraud by selling the same item to 6 different people, and cashed all their checks, and then never paid them back.

He would use one number or two off on his po box, and then when investigated by postal inspectors say it was someone else copied his address. He sold an RK with no ribbon once that way he bought at the swap meet for 50.00.

I also know others he has slickered on ebay by cashing their checks, and never sending the items to them. Still never made it good. I know them both well...both are very BaD news.

yes, many years ago, there wasn't internet or good books like today, the specialized books for our hobby were only fews, with only some and absolutely not good photos, without details or makers ......

The old collectors were considerated a " sure fonts" to indentificate original or fake badges and it was nearly normal that these collectors - or some dealers - offered some "special rare pieces" lake this 200 PAB !

It's true too that 20-30 years ago, it was very difficulty to make good reproductions, as there are now. DIfferent details were justified as variations.......

today is all more specialistic and closed in every details....BUT....we must always remember that today too anybody can be considerated an absolutely font of truth .
