Do you have a picture of the obverse? It smells like a hero fake.
    Kind regards,

            Hi Eddie,

Well, the finish alone scares me, just really pristine. Especially for a late war zinker.

Regarding the hardware combination though, the 7-wheeler maker used both round catchplates and round wire catches, so its theoretically possible to have a combination like this. But I have to agree that this one smells fishy.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I am also not a fan of this 7 wheeler. The finish is really odd and check out the odd bubbling around the catch.

I have only seen a catchplate used on the third pattern seven wheelers Tom and they all seem to have flatwire catches on a fairly large base plate instead of the roundwire catch and small base plate seen on Eddie's badge.

Thanks to all who participated in this thread.
This badge looked wrong to me from the first time i looked on it and then it was marked sold and i decide to help a buyer to get his money back,
I don't know this buyer either.
This badge was sold yesterday from GAILEN DAVID MILITARY ANTIQUES,i think Gailen is a member here or even one of the sponsors of WAF and i heard from many people that he is a decent guy and fare to his customers, perhaps some of you know him very well and can let him know about it,this way we can save someone form loosing hard earned money and stop one more fake floating on the market.

                    thanks again,

                    Eddie

Hey Eddie, I know Gailen reasonably well and have always found him very honest and fair...I'm sure he'd not sell this with intent or malice...Perhaps someone could drop him a line with the link to the thread attached. Cheers, S

                        Hi guys,

Dan, I agree with you 100%, I too have only seen flat wire catches on the round plates. But they definately used just plain round wire on their earlier badges, so I was merely suggesting that the combination of an earlier round wire on a later round plate might be plausible. The different sizes of the plates is definately a concern though, but they looked like they COULD be the same size based on the pics available. I am much more concerned with the finish.

Gailen is a good guy in my book. Definately reasonable and fair and any good dealer can have a bad piece slip in every now and then. We have ALL been fooled at one time or another.

You who have done business with me know I don't knowingly sell anything bad, I have contacted the buyer and told him his money is safe and to return the badge. Hard to be a specialist on every type of militaria and mistakes happen. When they do happen I take care of it in the proper manner..
