Thanks john, I apreciate you taking the time to post the two photo's for comparison..... what is it exactly? I'm still learning here.
I will say one grand thing that I have learned from you guys..... don't buy anything! I had a literal pile of stuff from 5 different people this month, and every last bit of it turns out to be fake! I tell you, that this is very discouraging, its almost enough to prompt me to give up my favorite hobby........

It can indeed be disheartening, but you have to buy from sellers who are honest or who know their stuff and also continue to educate yourself. This is a relatively new fake that has only been around for a few years, maybe less than four.
This is an SS tinnie or commemorative day badge issued for a march that they had on the dates listed on the piece...it was no doubt given to participants in the event, and sometimes "tinnies" were sold to raise money at an event depending on the nature of the event.
Cheers,
John

The fake is likely made from scatch in the sense that it is not cast from an original but rather made using a scan of the original then made with modern machinery and techniques hence the crisp but obvious different detailing. The fake is thicker than the original and even in hand just does not feel right.
@mackadoo keep at it you will get an original one day, I still do not have one of these after 25 years
