    Bronze IAB....any guesses?

Here's a quirky little find at the local flea/mall this Sunday, mixed in with some costume jewelery! It may also BE costume jewelery, heh. I zapped it for $10,so if junk, will display well with my Hanomag diorama! It's a zinker with bronze mech/inf plating, and seems rather well made. Magnetic pin. The front shows tiny bubbling, and the reverse has loose plate areas and zink pest along the edges. It had a small puff of pest growing on the leaf above the bayo,I removed it w/ a toothbrush and water,so it looks craggy in there. It now has a sheen of Vasoline all over to stop it I hope. It's either older or just poorly stored. MY guess is it has attributes of a SHuCo,in the adler and the catch, but no m/m indicating that. Has proper die stamp edges, doesn't appear cast. I have no scale to weigh it,but it feels about the same as a zinker IAB in comparison. It's vaulted too. So whats it? [IMG] [/IMG]

Hi there i'd say it's a fake. From the pics details are soft, the reverse looks pitted & the hardware's not what i'd expect to see. Sorry. Stewy

I would agree with Stewy, looks like a cast fake alright. Dodgey colour of whatever base metal used, poor detailing and reverse setup all odd. On the flip side, for $10 its a nice bit of costume jewllery for your diorama.

      Regards,

      Mark

          Hi Scott,

Can only agree with the others, a poor cast reproduction. Hardware definately not correct, but even the look of the base metal and the soft details are enough of a red flag.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

I like using these repos as props on my model displays I sometimes enter into competitions, that was if sticky fingers get busy, they don't get the good stuff! But I disagree,it doesn't look so ugly,if you hold it at arms length, squint your eyes, and have someone dim the lights!
