From here it looks like an original scooped flatback with the thick eagle's neck.

How thick it the badge itself, because from the last picture it kind of looks like a thin badge...
    Kind regards,
    Giel

I agree with Giel, it looks to be a good one...

Back when Robert was around they were called Rocky.

      Regards,
      Chris G.

                Guys......

......I still don't understand the contradiction of terms: scooped FLATBACK.

Just what does flatback stand for if not FLAT???

                  Hi Bruce

I agree, it does sound strange.

Flat backs were known, as you say, because they were flat, and this was unusual in PAB terms, so it warranted the nickname. Flat backed PABs were usually deemed to be fakes if they were not of this style.

Regards the scooped flat back, all I can assume is that, in recent times scooped versions of this design were found. And you know what the PAB boys are like

                  cheers
                  Graeme

And to make it even worse, there are two types of scooped flatbacks. The one with the thick and thin eagle's neck. This type here is with the thick neck.
                    Kind regards,
                    Giel

                      Hi Guys......

......Ya know I kinda figured that they were associated with the maker of flatbacks. Still, isn't there some way we can differentiate them without the confusing nomenclature?

And now there is a thick-necked and thin-necked variant?

Thank you both, Graeme and Giel for responding to my inquiry, but Giel I'd like to ring that neck of yours for coming up with the 2 variants.......

I guess I'll have to try and retrain what little brain I have left to get used to the name.......even though I'll hold out with the hope that someone will come up with a more reasonable(?) tag for this type PAB.

                      Regards,
