    APB in Silver

    Always trying to be careful in this market, this badge just came in, and I wanted to solicit an opinion on the piece. I usually only buy the coke-bottle style pin, but the straight pin is a legitimate version. As these are highly reproduced, I thought I would submit it to the forum for validation. I have had two knowlegable collectors say that it was fine (one inspected the photos, one handled it in person). Also, Detlev gave it the 50/50, saying that he would need it in-hand to be sure. That said, I'm looking for any experienced comments on this piece. Thanks in advance!

    Here is the reverse. It has the "bump" on the edge, above the hinge, which I like.

      I think it stands a good chance. The scanner is having problems with the silver finish which is causing the details to wash out.

        This was a hard one! Need to hold it in my hand to be more sure. Until then I say 50/50...

            Reverse. I hope the photos help - I did see what Don was talking about, with the scanner picking up too much on the silver.

              Sword has a slight twist to the left, as you look at the badge, in accordance with what I believe these models should have. Also, the edge is not indicative of a reproduction cast - it's quite nicely formed, with no seam.

                This is a good badge IMO - and lots of finish. s/f Robert

                  This is all good news. I was very positive about this piece, but you can never be too careful.

                    Craig;

                    in my opinion, this badge is good. I purchased a similar one from bill shea several years ago.

                    Best, kevin

                      Hi Graig

                      The badge you show is IMO a good one. It stands out as one of the most detailed BKA badges, notice the dots on the cranium. They usually come with three cutouts and pin needle. The twist of the sword is not present and if so in very small extent compared to other 2.mod BKA's Weight aprox. 25 gr., height 58,5 mm.

                      Lovely piece!

                      Cheers Thomas
