    Infantry Assault badge, original?

Hi all, just picked up the interest for badges and found this on an auction. How can i spot if it's original? (btw the pinned thread is dead)

    Hello,

Determining the originality of the IAB from the photos you posted is difficult. From what I see, the obverse details look soft (no detail on the acorns and eagle chest feathers) for this style IAB. Regarding the reverse: the catch looks small (odd -- replaced?) and the hinge and pin set-up is questionable. Maybe it is the angle and lightling, but without better pictures, or holding this example in-hand, I am leaning toward a cast reproduction.

Others, will certainly provide their opinion for you shortly.

Okay, so maybe it wasn't so difficult to tell from the pictures. A bad IAB.

Thanks all. This seller has many badges posted as originals, so i guess quite a few will get fooled... At least he didn't get to fool me thanks to you guys!

I will study a few more originals before looking for more infantry badges.
