I have came across this CCC in a private collection and would love to hear your opinions on it. I love the looks to the front of the badge but the back is what concerns me, primarily the boxed JFS and the way the plate is attached.

Can you tell us what is magnetic from this clasp, if anything?
Thanks

Yes, magnetics make a big difference on JFS clasps. Much better pics are needed to determine the originality of your clasp IMO, as there are good fakes on the market. Without better pics, the magnetics can also give us a clue.

Hi guys,
Just wanted to follow up on this thread. IMO, this is a well made cast reproduction. The pics are blurry and that is the first tip off. If you pay attention to the crimps around the hinge, they are different from originals. This fake is the same type that is shown in the CCC book, fake #10. They cast these from original JFS clasps, so the criming for the hinge is already there. In order to make the hinge fit, the crimps have to be smaller than originals to squeeze the hinge into it. Also notice the soft edges to the reverse of the clasp, very unlike original 2nd pattern JFS clasps.
Somebody else just posted another fake JFS
If you notice, all of these fakes are found in the silver grade. Just FYI, it is near impossible to find an original JFS in the silver grade. I have been collecting CCCs for 10 years now and still don't have a silver one myself! They are extremely rare.
