    More PAB ?????

    Hi Guys !
    Here is pics of 3 Silver PAB`s .
    Look at pic. can someone se any difference`s on this PAB`s ?
    Pics of back will come later .

          Top two are "FLL 43". The third one is different. Reverse?

            Jan, the top two are the same badge IMO. They could be FLL's but without a reverse I will withhold judgment. As for the last one, I haven't a clue.

              Dear Jan Arne,

              Am I right in suspecting that badges #1 and #2 are FLL (as Albert abd Chet already pointed out) and that the third badge is a hollow printed badge?

                Hi Jan,

                I would agree with Frank, Top two most likely FLL and the third badge zink hollow version that shares the FLL obverse layout. To make the quiz complete you should add a third badge. A massive zinker with a concave reverse but also sharing the FLL obverse layout.

                Personaly a case of designer sharing IMO. The hollow one and the massive unmarked zinker are probably made by the same unknown maker.

                  Hi Guys !
                  All of you are correct .
                  Top two is both massiv back maker marked FLL 43 .
                  Third badge is a feinzinc hollow back , but look at hinge and catch and compare with the two PAB`s with mm .
                  I knew that this hollow Badge has be discused before . But can we be sure that this not is a hollow PAB from FLL . All 3 PAB`s have the same "?" catch in brass . And hinge is also the same .

                    Hi Jan,

                    Maybe it's possible that FLL is the maker of all these badges.

                    The silver hollow PAB is made of a type of lightweight zink that I haven't seen on any of my other PAB's and has a verry low quality silver wash finish. The materail and finish immediately reminded my of a hollow IAB I own which shares those characteristics.

                    What I just did is comparing this IAB with a marked FLL IAB and I found quit some similarities in the design. So I think it's less unlikely than first thought that these PAB are al made by FLL.

                    That only leaves the massive zinker with identical obverse design and concave reverse. Would this one also be made by FLL than?

                            I can see no reason why the hollowback would not be a FLL as well. It just has too much going for it in relation to the other two for me to think other wise.

                            I think that due to the manufacturing process, it would be normal to see minor differences from a hollowback to a solid back, even if from the same company. These minor differences could include (but not limited to):
                            • different hardware completly
                            • mixmatched hardware (same hinges, different catches)
                            • different edge treatments
                            • allowances for cut outs
                            • minor obverse detail variations


                            What I am trying to explain is that just because a hollowback has minor variables in detail to the eagles head, or cutouts around the tank, but still retains specific obverse details from badge to badge, we might be jumping to conclusions by catagorising it as another maker, or even borrowed dies.
