    IAB in Bronze - Opinions/Comments

    Hello Gents,

Here is another of my recent acquisitions. IAB in Bronze. Maker marked to Wernstein? (If memory serves me correctly...I'm sure I'll be told otherwise if I'm wrong!)

Nice condition almost all of the Bronzing is intact, just some light wear.

Thought you'd like to see. Looking forward to your comments.

    Cheers,

    Adam

The maker is correct, I'm glad you posted this badge, because I'm not sure whether these badges have to have the shepherds hook catch soldered only or the plate is also accepted as correct.

      Does anyone know ?

      Kind regards,

      Marcus

I think your badge is genuine. These IABs came with both the rectangular and the "W" hinge device related to the Wernstein firm.

Agree this one is good IMO. Some people only will collect the "W" hinge variety. For me on Wernstein's I always notice the leaf under the bayonet. It is distinctly non detailed. It has no pebbling or leaf "veins". True on all good Wernsteins I have studied.

It's a keeper! I agree with Harry about the lack of detail on the leaf below the bayonet for this maker. This is the first time I have ever heard anyone mention this aspect before.

              Gentlemen,

I appreciate your comments and input. I'm very pleased with the badge and as it came from a very reliable source, I wasn't terribly afraid over authenticity...but as we all know it never hurts to ask around.

Interesting point about the lack of detail on the leaf, something to watch for in the future!

              Thanks again and happy collecting!

              Cheers,

              Adam
