    CCC Questions

    Two questions re: Bronze CCC's

    1. I have a AUMuK Gablonz in Bronze. Has about 90% of finish left. Only wear to high spots. The metal plate in the center has what looks like storage surface rust. Can/should I clean it? Leave it untouched?

    2. Does any really know approximately how many of these badges were awarded? I have seen the number 36,000 in bronze on one website.

    Thanks

      Hi Larry,

Your bronze number is what I have heard in the past too, about 36,000. I have seen about 9,500 in Silver and probably about 650 in Gold (633 confirmed).

As far as cleaning goes, you can do that but be careful to dry the badge completely when done. The plate and sometime pin and catch are steel and they will rust more if you leave water on them. Completely dry with a hair drier. I would then put a light coat of oil or vaseline to seal it from future water or whatever.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Thank you, Tom.

I was wondering if a light application of DW40 would hurt? Its seems to be a very nice piece. Could I send you a picture and get your thoughts? I would post, but I don't yet have posting rights. Thanks.

          Hi Larry,

I think WD40 would be fine too. My email is tmdurante@gmail.com
