More food for thought....
Assmann was already making Aluminum Luft Summer Eagles and Radio Operator badges with extremely neat cast-in hinges and round crimps. Aluminum badges were made prior to the zinc era, circa 1937-1938.
IMO, Assmann would have no reason to even "dabble" with the type of "crimps" shown on this PAB since they were already fully capable of making the neat cast-in hinges and round crimps used on their Luft badges before PABs were even instituted in 1939.
Hmmm...the more I study this badge the more I think it is "homemade".
