    Detlev?

    Hi Guys, This is probably a really dumb question, but I keep readin in threads about "Detlev" and I don't know what it means. I think it is some sort of original dealer of WWII german militaria who's items authenticity is beyond dispute but I don't really know. Help!???

        Thanks Brian, So are they the most reputable dealer in the land? Do you actually use Detlev to mean authentic even if it never passed through there, or am I being thick headed and not getting the joke?

          Detlev is a specific dealer with a very good reputation. His name is not used generically to refer to other dealers or authentic merchandise. However, as a friend once told me, no one is infallible. That being said, Detlev takes great pride in his work and backs his items. That is why his items sell so fast and gets the prices he asks. Rumor has it that if he later finds out that something he sells is fake, he tracks down the person he sold it to and refunds their money.
